Annual Capital City Soup Supper and Silent Auction - 02/04/2018

Our 28th annual Soup Supper and Silent Auction will be held on February 27th at the Capitol City Christian Church from 4:30 to 7:00pm.     Tickets are $8 adults/$5 children and will be available at the door.    Four types of soup, relish, dessert, and drinks will be served. 

All proceeds are used to provide financial support to childrens projects like:   Food Bank Back Pack Program * Scholarships to Nebraska colleges Boys & Girls State * Harvest of Books * City Park Renovations *  Leadership Camps * Service Leadership Clubs in Lincoln Schools


$4000 Donated to Lincoln Food Bank Back Pack Program - 12/22/2017

Capital City members presented a check for $4,000 to Scott Young, Executive Director of the Lincoln Food Bank on December 21, 2017.  The donation is designated to help support the Food Bank's Back Pack Program and other efforts to fight child hunger in Lincoln.   Pictured are:  Cheryl Ross, Scott Young, Dan Carlson, and Sandy Scheinost.


Infant socks collected to be donated to Sewing for Babies - 12/22/2017

Capital City members collected 270 pairs of baby socks and a few baby caps donated to Sewing for Babies.  The socks are added to the layettes provided to families in need of these items.  Pictured are Cheryl Ross, Daryl Swanson and Sandi Lewis.

Capital City Kiwanis Club Awards 2017 Scholarships - 06/28/2017

The annual Capital City Kiwanis Scholarship Award Banquet was held on June 20th at the Cotner Center.  Recipients and their families were invited to attend the dinner and award presentation.   Six of the eight 2017 students selected were able to attend the event and accept their scholarship.

Baby Shower Held for Head Start - 06/05/2017

The Capital City Young Children/Priority One/Youth Services Committee hosted a Head Start Shower for babies, toddlers, and presschoolers on May 16, 2017.  Items given by members included diapers, wipes, blankets, clothes, soap, shampoo, lotion, wash cloths, towels, books, sheets, socks/booties, crayons, bibs, and electric plug covers.  Janelle Maybee, Head Start ERSEA Coordinator of the Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders County was also presented with a check for $200 amd  some cash donations collected that night.


Lakeview Park Renovation Celebration - 06/05/2017

The Lakeview Park Renovation Project is almost complete!  On June 22, 2017 the city will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the end of this 3-year project.   Lincoln Kiwanis clubs participated finacially and physically in bringing this park in west Lincoln up to current standards.    The now wheel chair accessible park has a new basketball court, new playground equipment, new shelter and tables among its many changes.   Kiwanians helped plant 27 trees and over 500 perennials and will continue to support the park.


Service Leadership Programs - 04/29/2017

On April 11th twelve students from the Pyrtle Elementary K-Kids, Lux Middle School Builders and East High Key Clubs attended a Capital City meeting to present impressing recaps of the projects and activities they participated in during the year.   Service Leadership Programs like these help prepare our kids to become the service leaders of the future.

Capital CIty Kiwanian of the Year - 09/21/2016

President Charles Lamphear presents Jan Blue the Kiwanian of the Year Award.  Jan has been playing the piano for many years for the club, providing entertainment and opening music.
