FOSTER CARE CLOSET
If you think back to your "younger years" the memory of receiving new pajamas for the winter months may pop up. A group of CCK volunteers (Mindy Vyhnalek, Sandy Scheinost, Marilyn Napier, Marilyn Scheinost and Cheryl Ross) met at the Foster Care Closet on November 17 and were delighted to discover our afternoon project was sorting, organizing and tagging pajamas for boys and girls. The group arranged short-sleeved and long-sleeved pajamas in sizes 4 to 8 while discussing Husker sports, Thanksgiving plans, and the rapidly changing world of phone and TV technology. December 8 from 12:30-2:30 pm is the next service event for the group.
PINK GORILLA
STUFFING EVENT
On November 4, 2025 seven Capital City Kiwanis members assisted twenty-four Lincoln East Key Club members stuff packets for Pink Gorilla’s Good Life Halfsy Race held the following weekend. Members from both clubs worked together for over two hours in small groups to stuff packets of t-shirts, snacks, brochures, & coupons. Some members were also called upon to unwrap race award medals. For their efforts, Lincoln East Key Club will be paid $1,350 which they plan to use to purchase fleece for their second semester blanket project.

NOVEMBER EAST HIGH
KEY CLUB ACTIVITIES
Another busy month for the East High Key Club. First, 24 members volunteered at the Good Life Halfsy packet stuffing event and 12 members worked as race monitors on the very cold race day the following Sunday. Both of these events will help finance our future fleece blanket project. Key Club along with four other clubs at Lincoln East held a school wide food and diaper drive to benefit the Lincoln Family Medical Center. The event was considered a success as the boxes kept overflowing with donations. Also, members decorated 251 Meals on Wheels Bags in November bringing the total number for the school year to 623.
Members also went to Legacy Estates to play bingo with residents twice during the month of November and eight members volunteered on Thanksgiving morning to help peel potatoes and set up the dining room for People City Mission’s annual Thanksgiving meal.

PYRTLE K-KIDS
UPDATE
Hats On to the Pyrtle K-Kids! They successfully raised enough money to purchase toys and meat gift cards for the families at their school who are struggling a bit this year. (Students were able to purchase a sticker that allowed them to wear their hats to class on Hats On Day, November 7th.) Then on Tuesday, November 11th they went to Target to shop for that special gift for each child during their club meeting time. Groceries were purchased by Sandy Scheinost with funding from Thrivent. Pillow cases were sewn and donated by Julie Albrecht. And all was added to the Holiday Baskets that were distributed to the families the day before Thanksgiving.
