The Capital City Kiwanis Foundation was formed in 1989 by several club members who felt that a Foundation would be beneficial to the financial security of the Capital City Kiwanis club.  The Foundation exits solely to generate income to support the club's service projects to help children in our community.
One of the founders, and the first Foundation president, John Hossack, left approximately $3,000 to the Foundation in his will. This money was endowed and invested in a corporate note, with the accumulated interest and was eventually used for a service project in John's honor.
Over the years, assets have grown, all of which is kept invested in secure interest earning securities. Most of the growth in assets has occurred from memorial gifts honoring deceased club members, family members, and friends.    Later a Youth Activities Endowment Fund was established for all non-designated gifts to the Foundation.   The Foundation maintains a BOOK OF MEMORY that recognizes all those who have been memorialized with gifts.
All club members have the opportunity to support the Foundation financially.  Donations to the Foundation from members or from people outside the club are tax deductible since it is a 501(c)3 organization.
ALL donations to the Capital City Kiwanis Foundation are used to support the needs of children in our community and to make a difference in a child's life.
